I saw the film years ago and enjoyed it. How does the series measure up?

There are 2 FILMS:

WESTWORLD and FUTURE WORLD.

There are 2 SERIES:

WESTWORLD and BEYOND WESTWORLD.

It's not easy to MEASURE a NEW SHOW with other MUCH OLDER FILMS that were made ALMOST 50 YEARS ago.

Because obviously the NEW SHOW is going to have more advantages whenever it comes to having NEW TECHNOLOGY as a way to tell the story.

It doesn't.

While the production values of the new series are much better, the story is weaker and frankly it drags itself out way to long and takes its self much too seriously. The original film was a nice popcorn movie that gave you mindless entertainment. The series is a bunch of preachy pretentious crap that had potential when it started but then slipped into pretentiousness... then int he third season it tries to re-imagine itself into some terminator type movie... Frankly it is just a mess.

NOTE the way the HBO VERSION has this RATING: 8.7/10

And the way THE other 2 FILM VERSIONS also have LOWER RATINGS:

5.8/10 FUTURE WORLD FILM VERSION

7/10 Westworld FILM version

So if one goes by those RATINGS, the REVERSE would be so, with MOST PEOPLE PREFERING the NEW SHOW to the FILM VERSIONS of the story.

It takes the scary premise of unpredictable intelligent robots of the first movie and creates an epic odyssey wherein the characters are challenged and tested and experience existential awakenings and often dread. The series is a much more complex journey and adventure.
