Even though I loved the twist that William is the MIB and that William's story took place about 35 years earlier... I have a hard time accepting that William have turned into this cold SOAB that is the MIB... I know we see him enjoy killing in the end... But the MIB is such a different person than the William we meet at the begining... I guess entering WestWorld is not good for you;-)

He has still to go through all that stuff he does under the name of Bud Brigman.

That is what warps him into the MiB.

Is this character Bud Brigman from the book or did I miss something in the TV-series?

It's a character Ed Harris played in The Abyss, directed by James Cameron.

What I am trying to say is that it is a cool twist... but impossible to predict because of the different characters traits of William and the MIB...
