This is the best show since Game of Thrones

I was totally blown away by the premiere of Westworld. I was completely floored just by the promotional material, and the show totally lives up to it. Aside from the amazing casting, which is so beyond what you would typically get in a series like this, the science fiction and human condition themes are fascinating and evident in every frame. This show is stunning, and I am thrilled to see more. Thank you HBO for taking the risk, and delivering the best content on television. As a long time fan of the original 1973 film (and even its cheesy but fun spin offs), this is so much more than I could have ever hoped for. The series takes what Michael Crichton created, and dives deep into the most interesting aspects of it. Not since John Carpenter's The Thing has a remake felt like such an improvement on the original. I can't say enough good things about it. Bravo everyone involved.

Calm down mate. It's a little early to be making that call. Lots of shows have a great first episode (receiving a good chunk of the budget to hook people) and then things go downhill. See 'The Night Of' and 'The Night Manager' for recent examples.

I'm hoping this isn't the case for Westworld though.

reply

Meh, I like the Leftovers and Vice Principals better.

reply

After one episode, this is already better than Game of Thrones, which is ridiculously overrated.

reply

GoT = the most overrated show in the history of TV

constantly and consistently praised by critics and fans as if it's storytelling and characters are so brilliant when they're not

Second best show on IMDb - I can name so many that deserve that slot more than GoT (That includes comedies like Seinfeld)

Thousands of people vote on their episodes unlike every other show on TV - not only that but the majority are highly rated, which is ridiculous - around 2 out of the 10 episodes a season are worthy of high scores - the rest are more of the same crap and below average snooze-fests (especially that awful episode called The Door that every GoT fan jizzed over)

The characters are tripe - Tyrion is the closest the show has gotten to an interesting character

The deaths are for shock value and nothing more

the story is convoluted as F

Too many characters, families, houses to remember

I have to agree. Got is completely overatted.

Thanks - i expected the first comment to be hatred towards me haha you know how those GoT fanboys can get

reply

Just for mentioning Banshee, The Wire and The Shield there's no way anyone can say anything otherwise.

reply

It's the best fictional production ever created for any media.
It CAN'T be overrated.

reply

I definitely enjoyed the pilot, and I will be tuning in for more. However, I think it is too early to call it the best series since GoT.

reply

TV didn't start on 2008, so Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones are not that amazing when shows like The Shield and The Wire exist.

reply

The Wire
The Shield
The Sopranos

all WAY better than GoT

reply

LOL! Speaking of overrated; cute list of shows...

The Wire is easily the most overrated, unwatchable, tragically repetitive show ever made - since The Sopranos. Two shows that went on for seasons and don't have ONE single compelling episode.

reply

Nux30000 - you're so wrong

reply

Yeah, we definitely didn't watch the same show.

reply

Better than GoT that should have ended after season 4.
You know - before it turned into the cheesy little girl fantasy crap it is now.

reply

Either you don't watch many shows or you're one of those GoT fanboys that claim it is the best show in recent memory???

The Leftovers
Hannibal
Banshee

those shows happened since GoT

reply

Everyone has different taste. Isnt it great we have so much to choose from and the freedom to form our own opinions on what we like and dont like.

reply

To be kind;

MEH.

How's Hannibal's success workin' out for ya?

reply

Yeah cause Cancellation equates to no success - look at Firefly mate, a prime example of a show that is beloved but only lasted a mere 14 episodes

Hannibal was VERY successful in terms of fans - try doing some research before reacting

reply

I bet you blow your load after 30 seconds.

If I don't reply, you're probably on my ignore list for something I forgot already
