Is there anyone who wants the IMDB boards shut down besides Amazon?

A legitimate question, right? If every single poster and user of IMDB wants the boards to stay open, then how can a company shut them down in good moral conscience?

I also notice they didn't ask any user, nor is there a way for users to contact and debate with them or offer an alternative. This is why Trump was elected and people like the Clintons and Obamas are now irrelevant. It's just another last gasp of people in power who don't like dissension.

I wonder what they will feel or do when the traffic on IMDB falls down to nothing. Reinstate the boards most likely.

IMDB, Internet Movie Dumb Base.

I don't think they feel they owe anything to the posters on the boards, cash. We don't pay them money to use them so Col obviously made the exec decision to wave goodbye. I don't like it but part of me can understand the business decision. I won't, however, be following them on twitter, mostly because I don't use it and don't intend to sign up.

I don't think they owe anyone anything, except maybe an acknowledgment of customer loyalty? I pay for Amazon Prime, I rent films from Amazon VOD and I click through sometimes from the IMDB, so they make money from me, I'm a paying customer. I see the boards mostly as a way to get info from people who love films, I get info from the boards, it's not just a place to complain, or praise. They are completely disregarding that aspect of it.

I predict they will put it back in play, but likely only if you give them your personal identity and a way for them to track you to your home, which most people will not do. There will be no future boards that are good, only paranoid boards that suck.

I didn't consider the subscribers of imdb prime; just thinking about users of the discussion boards. I think it's a huge mistake to shutdown the boards but to me it seems obvious it's a monetary decision. They don't get money from the boards. I can see this biting them on the bum. I don't think they've taken into consideration how fickle people can be, especially once they get pissed off. I have not seen a single person saying they are happy about the decision.

I totally agree, if the boards ever come back they will want real names and addresses and probably your bank card number too. I'm not prepared to give it them given the current snowflake environment where anything you say will inevitably offend some idiot somehow, somewhere.
