im kind of stuck is it he moves to fast for people to see or does he slow down time?? help please

Is it even in American theatres because of today I still dont see it in the Daily News (New York) and we get all of the latest flix and usually first but anyway on to your Q............
Havent you guys seen the "Basilisk" Anime/Fansubs?? I cant believe that someone can even ask this Q as it is totally explained in the Anime. Anyway the 3rd person who answered you was correct and the other 2 were just confused from the slo-mo as his power is definitely that he can use his eyes to make you kill yourself and turn your own martial art skill against you and its pretty cool when they come at him with a sword and cut thier own heads off I love that shtit!! ;)
Tenzens power is pretty unreal also and overall these dudes have some of the best ninja like abilities ever seen, I still cant see how they can do fat-boys ability to turn into a superball in a flick like this though! lol

Actually they were not mistaken when they said his powers were to slow down time, couse in the Shinobi movie he really has the power to slow the time, unlike in the Anime series where you would be correct. Not all the other powers match from the Anime series.
His power to slow down the time around him (talking about the movie not Anime ofcourse) can be seen at the beginning near the waterfall. ;)
Regardless of whether it is explained in the anime or not you need to keep in mind that not everyone watches anime.
I think its a totally fair question although the movie does show his power in action which i believe to be slowing down time.
Im a little confused as to what the guy who was killed first from Koga's power is though. Unless its swordsmanship or something.
Hyoma? Other than being a quiet, blind, prophet...nothing too special about him in the movie it seems.
They changed a lot of the characters from the original concepts. Koshiro was originally from Iga, and had the ability to create a "cutting whirlwhind" with his breath. They kept his mini sickels though. Otherwise, eh. No clue if there's anything special about him in the movie as well. Maybe...jumping? He seemed to jump/bounce off things more than the others.
In the original concepts, Hyoma was the one that taught Gennosuke his eye technique.
I kind of assume that the reason so much changed, was to keep the movie at least SOMEWHAT realistic. After all... the Kouga had a spider-like guy, snake-like guy, a guy that could phase into objects and a freaking balloon ninja in the original, and the Iga had this guy that could like, turn into slime or something when he touched salt.
Oh, the Kouga also had a girl that was basically the incarnation of a leech...touch her and your blood goes bye bye ^^
And it's because of all the "unique" ninja from the Kouga clan I'm assuming is why the put Koshiro on that side.
About the movie comming out in the US: Aparently FUNimation bought the rights to it and they're putting it out at the end of this year.

He can 'see' an enemy's movement and react to it before they actually move.
His power is in his eyes. He's apparently a tensai, meaning genius in japanese, shinobi, so, when his eyes glow that signifies his power activating. Obori has the same sort of power only sorta different.

shareI kind of wonder if Oboro stabbing him was one of two things:
1. He just let it happen.
2. His eyes did flicker a bit, (and he DID reverse Tenzen's rings..which may mean he has the ability to reverse an attack in the movie, like in the anime..)so maybe Oboro's true desire was to kill herself? And since he might be able to reverse an attack... Do I make sense? It makes sense in my mind, I'm just not awake enough to explain it sufficiently ^^;
But if Gennosuke has the power in his eyes, why didn't he follow the girl(cant remember the lead characters name, sorry :O)and do as she did, stab out his eyes?
But they maybe didn't want to be both blind and not seeing each other, I suppose..

actually he doesnt slow time. he has a "see-all" power which allows him a sort of "danger sense" so that he can detect enemy movements and attacks and react befor the enemy can. the slow down is just an effect to show how he is able to predict enemy movements. also being the head of the clan he has tremendous speed naturally. notice he doesnt use this "bullet-time" effect on the more powerful opponents, just on the jobbers.
Nope. He indeed does slow time. You can see this in the beginning, when he is looking at the waterfall and uses his power to slow everything down.

Yep, he slows down time, but only in a certain area, which he can choose in size I think. When he fights all the enemy shinobi in the forest, you can see a large bubble in the overview of the forest, right before he activates his move. I think that within this bubble time is slowed down, while Gennosuke is moving in normal speed.
At the end of the fight, we see him frantically killing the remaining shinobi in super high speed because that's probably how it must have looked from the point of view of one of the enemy shinobi within the bubble.
I think his power is, he can actually see what was going to happen and everything comes in slow motion...
