Battle at Senpu Spoiler

I am not sure what the director intended, but at the beginning of the battle, Oboro tried to use her "Eyes of Destruction" on Gennosuke, and failed 3 times. The part that confused me is either, that the UNCONSCIOUS part of her mind didn't want to hurt Gennosuke, which is why she was crying a bit, or Gennosuke is immune to "Eyes of Destruction".

Considering Gennosuke didn't want to fight Oboro at all, and didn't even TRY to defend himself at any point in that fight, I am leaning towards the first theory, OR Gennosuke could be NATURALLY immune to it, and isn't able to control it.

OR he DEFENDED the "Eyes of Destruction", but didn't defend the blade so he could hold her before he dies.

I have so many more theories, but I want to hear all of yours, shoot.

What do you guys think about the situation?

My impression was that her heart wasn't in it, so it wouldn't work. Like, she didn't REALLY want to kill him, so it just sort of fizzled out because she didn't have the passion to release the energy. I might be wrong, though...
