some things don't mix...

wow i had to turn this one off after about 45min if it wasn't a korean film i could have sworn it was written by wong jing and directed by zhang yimo. this kind of comiedic story filled with bugs bunny style chases and women constantly getting their clothing cut off does not mix with the utra stylized, ultra artisitc way this movie was filmed IMO. It clashed as bad as peanut butter and sashimi now i like either one on it's own but don't give me a peanut butter and sashimi sandwitch. sometimes weird combinations work out great such as a phylisophical disertation disgised as a horror movie (pulse/kairo by kurosawa) but i think this one fell flat on it's face.

Yeah, it had too much "art" for me...so many camera effects and artistic touches that it was wearying after a while...like being in a shopping center and getting tired of all the lights and signs constantly demanding attention. I couldn't identify with the characters as they were too remote and undeveloped, due to all the time put into the filming effects. This might appeal to others though.
