Sad to know

Before I saw the movie I took a look at the IMDB racking to get some idea about how good it was, and with a 3.4 rating I wasn't expecting much, but that so isn't the case. I mean it's not sensational but for sure it's a pretty good movie and this rating is way too low. This goes to show that even 30 years have past since those times they still are a lot of you racists out there and that's sad to know, you're being racist by giving this movie such an low rating and it&'s not the only good movie that got a low rating because it's with black actors...How come Step Up gets a 6.9 and movies that are similar to it, like Stomp The Yard and You Got Served, manage to find place in the Bottom 100? This is *beep* up!

P.S. I should mention that I am not black so you won't say I'm just paranoic

I agree with you completely. I like step up as well but you also knew what was coming next.

its because you got served sucks.

i agree completely on the 3.5/10 rating, it's much too low. However, the thought that it's because racists are voting is absurd. If it is in fact because of racists, why do movies like Remember the Titans, Coach Carter, and Glory Road all have ratings above 7? I don't know why this movie has a low rating, but it's not because people are racist.

I think it's hilarious that there are so many topics on here accusing white America of being racist, yet the only evidence this theory is founded on is the movie's low score. Sure, maybe there's a handful of people who down-voted this movie for racist reasons, but it's more likely that this is just not a movie that appeals to the masses. Honestly people put way too much stock in reviews and ratings anyway, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

To be fair, Glory Road stared a white guy, and the others are really only a few exceptions. Plus Denzel and Samuel have gotten cred across all races as great actors. Terence Howard is on his way there, but not yet.

Lets face it, Racism is very much alive in todays world (although no where near the explicit racism of the 60's) I'm sure that had a great impact on the rating and those of other movies like Get Rich or Die Tryin, The Honeymooners, and ATL. (Horrible movies, but an unfair rating when compared to "white" counterparts)

However, I can't help but think Bernie Mac and Tom Arnold playing dramatic roles had something to do with the negative rating as well.

Yeah, Glory Road starred a white guy, but it was still about the advancement of African-Americans in sports. The same concept as Pride, Remember the Titans, Coach Carter, etc. etc.

Excluding sports, there have been many successful movies about the advancement of African-Americans, and the civil rights movement. Movies that a racist certainly wouldn't enjoy. I'm with you when you say that Get Rich or Die Trying, The Honeymooners, and ATL are horrible movies, but i'm not so sure that racism had a part of it. They're just not good movies.

As for the dramatic roles of Bernie Mac and Tom Arnold, I thought they actually played them quite well. Not as well as they play comedy roles, and I believe Bernie Mac was better than Tom Arnold in Pride, but they both did fairly well.

Now all that being said, I liked Pride and I gave it a 7/10. The 3.5 really doesn't do this movie justice.

Denzel Washington , Forest Whittaker, Morgan Freeman, and that guy that was in Syriana and the remake of The Manchurian Candidate are the only good black actors there are.
Oh, wait, James Earl Jones, though he was mostly a voice over, and Ossie Davis, but that's only because he's dead now.

It is sad. I don't know why the score was so low. This definitely is not a 3! I would have given it an 8, very positive film.
