Sequel possibility for big-screen comeback adventure

From the info I read regarding this game, this would sound good as Jack Skellington's big-screen comeback/sequel treatment. It could be another classic, if done right (I know! I am 24 years old and I setill watch it once every Halloween-time)

Jack's adventure could've ended at part one (because Oogie Boogie died), but somehow Lock, Stock, and Barrell were able to sow him back up. So I could see it as a possibility for a big-screen treatment. If Tim Burton comes back to do it again, I'm there. Again< i conside the first a classic (even though my mother labelled it as another installment of the Freddy Kruger series: imagine a singing Freddy Krueger chasing kids in their dreams. The kids dance, and at the end of the song or close to, he kills them)

The first one was a breakthrough (and a classic). It may seem that, if "Corpse Bride" does well. Who knows? The possibilities are endless.

I don't know how to say this, but I seriously doubt Burton would do that. As much as I would LOVE to see another NBC movie, the original just stands on its own. Burton was asked this once and he said that he wouldn't want to tarnish the first one with a sequel.

Now an animated, handdrawn series, THAT would be fun!!! I just remember how much I loved "Beetlejuice" as a kid. But, sadly, that too is a pipe dream. Oh, and don't feel bad about being 24 and still watching this movie. I'm 22 and I watch it on Halloween AND Christmas!

Just turned 23 here and I absolutely love this movie. I'm watching it now (at work) as I type. As much as I love the original and would love have a second installment, a sequel could not survive.

However, I just started playing the game for PS2 and it's absolutely gorgeous!!

i havent played the game yet, and think there should be a sequel it might not be as much of a classic as the original but in my eyes it worth a shot.

I doubt that Tim Burton will want to do a sequel, not that its a bad idea or anything, but after Batman Returns it seems he's done with continuing storys. If the story was based off of the New game, that could be pretty nice. Just got the game, so far its pretty fun and has the feeling of the movie.

can anyone tell me how i get the brains stwiched on the doc
and make the evil meter go down

reply

go behind him, use the soul grabber to pull his head open, run in front of him, grab the *good* brain, and throw it in him.

There's even an easier way to do it, which is in the mission before you fight him. When you get inside his lab, don't go upstairs. Go back to the cemetary and talk to sally. She will give you a list of things so she can make that soup that makes him go to sleep. You'll find the Deadly Nighshade in the cemetary (in the tomb where you fought the Troll Skellitons. You buy the Worm's wart from the Witch's shop (from the small witch), and remember the area you entered to shut of the power gernerator to get inside the doc's lab? well, on the oppisite side of the path, there's another area, where you can find frogs. You have to ver carefully sneak up on them, and grab the one that braeths ouyt green gas. then, go back to sally, she'll make soup. then go back to the doc's lab. right before you fight, the doc will eat the soup, so you'll be able to get the first brain in easily.

I think that if they did do a sequel to the movie, it should have a new villain. IMO they've done all they can do with Oogie. Some ideas I have, off the top of my head, for villains are: The Devil (from The Devil Went Down to Geogia short), Nosferatu, and any one of a number of mythical creatures from different cultures. I think that since Pixar is running the Disney animation department, maybe Burton would consider doing another one and it could be a franchise. However, if they never do a sequel I'll always be happy with the first.

reply

That's a nice idea. Though I don't think they should use one of the two you mentioned. Not because they're a bad choice, but because there's already a Devil character in this, and four vampires (Nosferatu was a vampire character). Though you're getting the right idea. Maybe many of the evil-character denizens could be hypnotized into turning on Jack, or something (you know, the Mr. Hydes, vampires, devil, etc.).

Yeah, those were just off the top of my head. Personally, I don't think it needs a sequel at all. I was just saying that if there does ever end up being one, that they should have a new baddie.

No, they need Oogie Boogie. I love that bag of bugs. I don't know if a sequel would work. The plot of the game is great, but it would never live up to the original. Also, I heard that Disney did want to do a sequel, and they wanted to make it another frickin' CGI movie. It NEEDS to be stop-motion. also, sequels are generaly lousy, with few exeptions. the only times that sequels work are when it is part of a saga (Star Wars) or if they can stand on their own (Iniana Jones, Star Trek). there are those rarities where the sequel is better (such as X-Men 2), but for the most part they aren't good at all.

However, I do love the plot of the game. I just finaly got it on Monday and I just finished resqueing the vampires (took me two hours to finish that level!) Barrels maze was confusing right at first. I you're having trouble, after you hit the pumpkins on the scarecrows, there is an area with pumpkins that you can pick up, walk to the right and though it at the scarecrow on the other side of the fence. some enemies will apear, so fight them. Once they're gon, fallow the fence heading away from the camera, and at the end of it you can turn in and go behind the fence. after that point the maze is pretty easy. The fight with Finklestein was really dificult. I knew how to do it, but it was a pain in the butt to get the second half of the brain in. If you learn the pattern of the machine, you can do it. The fight with the jiant spider was so frickin easy, I don't think that I took any damage during that fight. however, i almost got killed fighting Lock just before the boss fight. Honestly, i love this game. It's almost as addicting as Kingdom Hearts.

Honestly, I do NOT want a sequel. The Idea makes me want to run around my house, smashing my head into the walls, in attempt to beat the thought right out of my brain cells.
Frodo better watch it or else Gandalf's gonna knife him
