I wondered, first, why the police never followed up after they fingerprinted Michael; I didn't notice him wearing gloves during the burglarly. Second, why would the polizei want his fingerprints in the first place? What would it prove if his fingerprints were found in a house he had lived in for some time?

first of all he lived for over ten years in the house, that's why they took the prints , so they could exclude him from the research. policework is like this. they don't want to look for burgulars prints and not for the ones there.
