BTK is not a true serial killer

I don't think Dennis Rader is a true serial killer. He stopped killing and writing letters for over 20 years and then suddenly came back. I think if you were truly a demented killer like that you couldn't just stop especially for that long. I know there have been serial killers who stopped killing for a long period of time but usually only because they were too busy, something happened to them, or they moved away from their comfort zone, etc. He was in Wichita the whole time and could have easily kept killing. I don't think he had a true urge to murder and only did it to become famous. Anyone agree?

A serial killer is traditionally defined as a person who has murdered three or more people over a period of more than a month, with down time, a cooling off period, between the murders. And usually when they start back its usually because of something that triggered it.

Your definition is correct, but I'm not as sure about something necessarily 'triggering' it. It depends, I suspect, on what the motivation is for the killing.

Apparently you don't understand what a serial killer is.
