Is this movie EVER coming out?

Any new news???

Nothing since the screening in Houston. Sure wish they'd just just sell it for DVD release already so we can see it. If someone was going to pick it up for theatrical release it would've happened by now, wouldn't it?

I'd like to share the latest information with you that director Mike Mayer just sent in:

The screening of the movie at the World Fest in Houston, TX in April 2007 turned out really well, the movie won a Platinum Remi prize at the festival. The Houston Chronicle also published a very cool review that Mike shared with us at chris-marquette.com.

As to where the movie actually stands, there are test screenings going on right now and they are in the process of finishing the visual effects and sound on the film and are hoping to find a distributor for the movie very soon. I'm very happy to hear that things are moving forward.

Man, it sure doesn't feel like this one's ever coming out. Two years now, and counting...

reply

Seriously, I've been waiting for it to come out since it started. What's the deal?

reply

Last we heard, they were having licensing issues with the music and had to change a bunch of it because some of the artists wanted too much money. And that required a bit of re-editing to make the scenes fit the new music. There were some rumblings about a deal a couple of months back but I guess nothing came of it. Bottom line, they still haven't found a theatrical distributor to release the film and they desperately don't want it to go to direct to DVD.

It's now 2008. I think I've personally given up hope of ever seeing this one. Three years is ridiculous.

reply

I agree. I think if we don't see it by the end of spring this year, it's pretty much dead. With the Chris & Chris show (as it was referred to when we were working on set) both getting older and having other gigs (Chris L. is on Private Practice and Chis M. is doing other projects) they need to get this movie out now or they're both going to look too young.

reply

The Chris & Chris show. That's funny! What'd you do on the movie?

reply

I started off as a production assistant and ended as the camera loader.

The film is definitely not dead. In fact...I think everyone will soon discover that their patience with this wonderful little film finding its way will have paid off. Everyone will be happy. Things have been quiet lately because the "powers that be" are busy putting "things" together for the...........

;-D

That fantastic! Any idea how soon is "soon", B?

reply

Knowing when and what the film is about...your best guess as to how "soon" would probably be correct.

Forgive my cryptic response here.

Gotcha! Are we talking DVD or theatrical? Thanks so much for the good news, BTW. We really needed some right about now. ;-)

reply

We're going to get a limited version of what we want...then you all will get what you want.

;-)

reply

Coolio! Some of that limited stuff you want wouldn't involve Atlanta by any chance would it?

reply

I honestly wish we knew. But specifics have yet to be determined. Thus why everyone is quiet.

reply

Who can I appeal to? LOL! Seriously, I'd do a street team if there was any interest. Anything for the cause. Anything at all...
