Music - DANDY WARHOLS?! (aka 'The Main')....

Was it just me, or does the song that Kristen and Jacqueline play for Campbell Scott's character when they're smoking pot (and again over the closing credits) sound like a take-off of the Dandy Warhols song "Mohammed" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8WPLZeDDbkc)? In the movie, they even say the (fictional) band (called The Main) comes from Portland (just like the Dandys...). There was no reference to the song in the credits. So I am trying to figure out if this was a dead rip-off, or if this was some kind of meta-reference (or "echo"...) that's supposed to reflect the post-modern writing themes of the movie...

Any ideas?

I know you posted your question like a year ago, but I recently "Crashing" and was hunting for the song they get high too also. I used your link to the Dandy's song and yeah, it sounds the same. I would've sworn that in the movie when he asks about the music that the girl says, "Public Domain" which is the name of a real group but also maybe they're saying the song is in the public domain or something? And that's why it wasn't in the credits? Anyway thanks for the link I love the song, awesome to have sex to.
