Fish and Chip shop in America?

There was a Fish and Chip shop right in the middle of this movie. I never knew there was such a thing in the States.

I live in San Francisco and while throwing darts for league in the city, I saw a lot of customers eating.. then I noticed it was only fish and chips. After I ordered a 3 piece fish and chips for myself, did I realize this pub did not make the grub. 15 minutes later a Chinese man arrived with a newspaper, and lo-and-behold it contained my fish and chips. I believe the pub is the Edinburg Castle and the shop, I discovered is a block away on Polk Street.

Quite a few of them, actually, particularly in the Northeast. Incidentally, it's the only time we call fries "chips." Haha.

We have so many fish and chip places in New England, especially NH, MA and ME, where there are seacoasts, that I assumed those restaurants were all over! So it's educational to me to learn that there are areas in the US where there aren't any, with yummy baskets or plates piled with golden brown greasy fried fish and french fries.

We actually have some in the South (north Louisiana-if you are wondering why I differentiate between north and south LA, then you've obviously never been here). although we certainly don't call them 'fish and chips', lol.

Viva Hollywood!

New York City has two, one in the East Village and one in the West Village. They're called "A Salt & Battery" - get it? LOL!!! Good fried fish - they have about 4 types of fish daily and they go fast. It's piled in a basket lined with paper and comes piping hot with chips (french fries). You get the usual vinegar and malt, or the American ketchup.

Great stuff. And if by chance you're still hungry, they have fried candy bars for dessert.

Just like England, trust me.

I have travelled all over the U.S. and there fish & chips shops everywhere I have been. They are even franchised. Long Johns Silvers for one are everywhere in California.

Help stamp out and do away with redundancy
