MyTake on this film

To me they spoiled the movie just a bit. There was no need to go into her fiance issues because it leaned towards her being iffy on getting married. I would have liked for them to part and let a one time fling be just that as in the bridges of Madison county. She seemed happy until she said she sometimes is afraid. I am not saying a man with a temper is not a bad sign but that part seemed out of place in the film.

In these type of movies it seems the writer can't help but making it a concise reason for her actions when in this case it would have been better if we had not known and had not been spoon fed of her reason for being sad near the end. The movie did not need that complicated part. Over all a very good thought provoking movie. I would have liked it more for the reason she seems tortured between him and what the movie I thought was trying to say and he also seemed a bit pathetic by not honoring her very persistent request of not going into there personal lives. All of a sudden the movie went dark from the seemingly original plan. because of the explanation of him being abusive but he gets treatment makes us feel maybe he is OK [the fiancee] so why introduce his story and make him only half bad. The abuse was 5 years ago. He left her thinking of him and maybe being sorry for getting married witch i felt was not a good ending, verses a one time love of everything good.

I agree! The whole fiance justification was unnecessary. Some writers think justifying things makes the movie more likeable. I guess they thought we would see her as some type of lascivious promiscuous tramp had it not been for the abusive fiance background. Guess they're a tad bit old fashion. She would have still been appealing without it.
