The Main Character

Who else hated the main character? He was such an unlikeable person...even before the show turns into crap he was acting like a whiney little baby: I think I would have felt more sorry for him more if he was more optomistic in the beginning but by the end turns into his whiney little self after his show changes instead of being like that from beginning to end: and ignoring someone's advice just because they haven't seen a movie, WTF?

I call movies that are considered 'bad' hated movies.

Yeah, he pretty much ruins the entire movie. I don't know how much I blame David or Jake Kasdan but its an awful character that drags down the entire movie. Sigourney, Ioan, and Judy are all fantastic and the dialog is great but the main character sucks and the story should have been reworked to make him less detestable.

I ended up siding with Sigourney's character for the most part. And she really saves that character. Could you imagine if Ben Stiller had ended up playing Lenny? It would have been sooooooo annoying.

Thank God the critics don't agree with you on "the main character" He was teriffic.

I'm not saying the main character wasn't portrayed well, I was just saying he wasn't that likeable.

I just thought he cared about what he wrote.

lol you sound exactly like the execs!

maybe you missed subtlety of the movie and what it was about?

I agree the main character isn't "likable" in THAT sense of the word. But this movie seems so real to me that its hard to remind myself when I'm watching it that these are actors and not real people in the situation. Think of the character, too the main actor "Zack". Wack job haha and somewhat embarrassing to watch him be crazy, but that's his character.

The way a lot of people seem to approach the movie is exactly like how the decision-makers for network TV champion for "you" - the common viewer. To me, that seems insulting, and as I read at least one other person on this board state, The TV Set seems to appeal to people who hate network-type TV shows.

good discussion, i appreciate your opinions even though I may disagree a bit here and there. thank you
