Voight's Performance was Oscar Worthy

The movie may have not been as historically accurate as one would want and there was a slight bias towards the Mormons, but putting that all aside, Voight delivered an incredible performance as Jacob Samuelson. I know it's hard, but if you can separate a performance from the film itself (which could have been better), you have an Oscar worthy performance.

If you don't have any you could always watch the film again. Voight can give good performances, but he is miles from giving one in this film. Nice scenery in the film....and he attempts to chew as much as possible.

Oh Lord, you gave them eyes but they cannot see...

"Oscar worthy?" You've got to be kidding me? You must have been seeing some pretty awful performances by some pretty horrible lead actors. Even most of Jon Voight's other work has been way better than this trash.

The film could have been better, but I sure didn't see it as biased toward the Mormons, and I've seen much better work by Jon Voight. 7/10 stars for entertainment value and direction.
