Watch without knowing plot?

I watched this without having read any sort of summary or knowing the story. I thought the film benefited greatly from having no set-up. In face I'd recommend avoiding summaries. Now, I think it's a great film either way and wouldn't have felt slighted if I had known the story. What do you all think?

Same case here. I didn't know Satanás was based on a true story, therefore the ending and the whole impression of the movie were much more powerful than if I already knew the ending.

Obviously colombians knows it's based on a true story but most foreigners doesn't.

I took this advice and went into the film blind. Wow! I do think the suspense of not knowing multiplied the impact.

I agree.

I had no idea about the movie, just saw it at the blockbusters and it looked interesting.
Then, it got me completely by surprise, and then got VERY in shock to read at the end that it actually happened.
Definelty, the "shock" and surprise factor - by having not a clue about what would happened - made it a very interesting movie for me.

What plot? The movie hasn't any. It just keeps on building onto something that seems it's gonna be great but it's not. It's got great acting and cinematography but the script could've been a lot better.

It's a really interesting film, but I can't quite grasp the reasons for having one third of the content really quite factual and two-thirds purely fictional. The Eliseo (not sure why the film makers bothered to even change his name) story sticks very closely to the known facts of the case and is therefore gripping in its authenticity. In comparison in hindsight, the priest and Paola stories are just kind of luridly sensational companion pieces.🐭
