The enigma that is Neil Young

Because of geography, I haven't been able to see PW yet, but I would like to say something regarding Neil's music.

There are a lot of his songs I don't care for, but there are a lot that I love and have listened to tens of thousands of times over the last 35 years.

I'm not an expert on his philosophies, but I think what that makes Neil great is that he writes for himself. We don't always understand what he's doing, or why, but there are songs that we connect with that no one else is capable of writing. Sometimes he's commercially successful, sometimes he's not. I don't think he cares. I'm just happy that he keeps on writing and keeps on touring. I haven't seen him in person since the Rust tour, but I'd give anything to see him again.

I don't know why, but I've always identified with him, and as I get older, I identify with him even more and I still don't know why. But I can't imagine the music world without him.

could'nt have said it any better... Young is so down-to-earth he doesnt even care if he's popular.. as a matter of fact he recently said In an interview that he doesnt like playing to fans.. he's rather play to a "clean slate"...
