FREAKIN rochester is the *beep* poorest city ever. (I live in rochester, and hate it) why would they ever want to film here?? when there are so many nice cities to film in. its location is the middle of no where, no where near NYC. The closest city people know of is buffalo, and that is a pretty crappy city as well.

I live in Riochester and I agree its pretty poor but Buffalo definitely is not. At least not everywhere.

shareAs a Rochester Native, I noticed many different areas in the film. For one, the Irondequoit bay bridge was beautifully captured in this film. Also, when they are in the car after the incident, they drive past Clover Lanes, the sign is blurred, but you can still read it. And other parts were filmed around Rochester, but I wasn't involved in the production so I'm not sure where. I'm actually kinda pissed that I wasn't involved cause I'm a film student.
shareI live in Rochester and I think it is a middle class city as compared to a lot of Buffalo. But I am still glad it was filmed in Rochester. Yes some posters are going to say its a *beep* town. But as a performing arts and history fan that I am. I am proud I am from here. And it was cool to see locations that I knew where they were. Some were within a few miles of me like Brighton High School, East Ave and Goodman (when he is driving to catch the guy and Nikki Reed in the affair), and School of the Arts. I would much rather see a movie shot here than in Toronto or Buffalo or Syracuse.

The exterior shots of the school were of my high school, Brighton High School. The abandoned house was on Lake Ontario. Both fight scenes were filmed at Corbett's Glen in Penfield and they filmed some of the driving scenes on Monroe Avenue past Clover Lanes and downtown near the intersection of S. Goodman and Monroe. I was surprised to see some scenes on Ambassador Drive too.
I thought it was pretty cool to see a movie filmed in Rochester, and I like most of the cast in other movies. But, the movie was pretty weak, especially after comparing it to another high school noir like Brick.
Parts of the movie were shot on the street where I grew up. The school they shot at looks like Brighton High School where I went, the scene at the track definitely was BHS.

I was born and live here and go to the school they filmed the public school scenes (School of the Arts, woot woot)
Some areas are not to hot but, what city doesn't? i love it here, Rochester is beast
