I noticed throughout the course of this film that the characters would very frequently swap from Hindi to English, sometimes for a whole sentence, sometimes for a phrase in a sentence.
Is this common for English speakers in India - of something that just the young and well educated do.
When I've been in India I've never noticed this but as I only have a dozen or so words in Hindi I wouldn't really have encountered it.
it was a youth orientated movie targeted at the urban population. however, since obviously a large amount of the indian population, mostly the rural, are not educated in english and a large LARGE movie revenue comes from there too so they tried to infuse the best mix. while i loved the movie i do however think that the language was a bit too umm hindi? for its urban youth targeted audience.
shareThat's how we speak here(Urban India), the culture is so mixed up that we don't follow a specific pattern. Sometimes we speak Hindi mixed with English, and other times we also add in the local language too.
