Off the top of my head :

Rafael Márquez
Javier Hernandez
Dos Santos
Carlos Vela

if you are from Mexico it's ok, they are yours idols but if you are not mexican and you know something about soccer you have to know that Mexico doesn't have players in a "top list"

arraaaancá!, arraaaancá!!!

1. I am from England.
2. It is called football.
3. Are you from the USA? They are a joke around the world in pretty much every sporting capacity. Freddy Adu, Altidore, Eddie Johnson, Bradley JohnsonDonavon all hyped up beyond belief and all fell flat on their faces in Europe.

reply

jajajaja very good joke!!!!!! but I'm from Argentina, I'm talking about football as "soccer" coz this is a site from USA and maybe if I say "football" they think that I'm talking about another sport.

and yes, Mexico has players playing in Europe like Rafa Marquez, but your list is a list of player from Mexico, I'm talking about a list of best players of the world now or in the history, in both cases there are not players of Mexico (maybe Sanchez but...I don't know)

MY POINT IS THAT PEOPLE OF USA THINK THAT MEXICO IS GOOD IN FOOTBALL OR "SOCCER", THIS IS ANOTHER MISTAKEN STEREOTYPE

arraaaancá!, arraaaancá!!!

How bout Clint Dempsey, Scored the most goals as a midfielder in the premier league

It all has to do with how much time, money and effort a country is willing to dedicate to a sport.

Most people in the U.S. don't care about soccer so little to no money is spent on the sport. Whereas in Europe and South America, it's pretty much the only sport they spend money on. So naturally their players are going to be better. And Mexico doesn't have the money to make their players know to the world. Even in the movie the main character doesn't get noticed playing in a professional U.S. or Mexican league. He gets noticed by a guy on vacation and he gets made known by leagues in Europe.

The point is it's a cultural issue, not a matter of athletic ability. One could argue that the U.S. is better overall, just look how well we do in the Olympics over all compared to your own Argentina. But again it all just has to do with how much money a country is willing to put into a sport.

Exactly. Case in point: In Womens Football the USA are the best.

Landon Donovan had fairly decent success both time he was loan to Everton in EPL. The club wanted to sign him but galaxy refused or the money wasn't there. Anyhow, i think he is a decent American player that could play in the biggest league in the world, even though Soccer is like the 15th most popular sport in US behind darts and pool.

Back to the thread, i agree, Mexicans are usually good soccer player but not internationally and money is the reason.
