Who the hell is Prashant Raj???? Why is he playing the Dharmendra role?
Why has RGV not commited himself to an asylum yet?

And it takes some guts to remake a film as well-held in the public consciousness as this. It could work tremedously well, as we have seen with last year's Don remake. Or it could fail spectacularly, as we saw with last year's Umrao Jaan remake.
I think (but not hope) that Sholay will go the way of the latter.

It takes quite some skill and talent to go from unknown actor to the person who created an icon of Indian cinema, practically overnight.
I hadn't seen Sholay since I was a kid but watched it recently with my Dad (who kept quoting some of Gabbar's famous dialogue) and was struck by how incredible the whole movie was, but especially how realistically Amjad Khan brought Gabbar to life: he truly is an evil bastard but there's no hammy acting and no stereotyping involved.
My problem is that I'm never too hopeful to learn that an actor with a crucial role in an anticipated film was a "former model" - being a habitual blank canvas is not the same as constructing an identity and making it alive.
Also, RGV recently said that his remake was like an ante-Sholay: same characters and same-ish story but not told in the same way. In which case I think he should rename it, so people don't go to watch it with too many expectations (and I mean that in a good way).
If you think the Umrao Jaan remake was bad, you should watch the remake of Taj Mahal - that was even worse! :)
