Has Many Similarities to MYSTIC PIZZA

Am I the only one who saw parallels between this movie and the 1988 Julia Roberts movie ?

Both had 3 women working as waitresses in an eatery. Here, the focus was on pies, there it was pizza.

Both films concerned the sexual escapades of the three women. Here, Keri Russell had an affair with a married doctor. There, Annabeth Gish had an affair with a married college professor.

Both films had a wisecracking, know it all older person who owned the eatery where the women worked. Here, it was Andy Griffith.

Both films had one of the women getting married and a wedding scene at the eatery.

In this one, she won the award for her pies. In Mystic Pizza, the critic praised their pizza on TV, and the restaurant became famous.

More similarities--

In Mystic Pizza, waitress Lily Taylor's character doesn't want to commit to marriage with Vincent D'Onofrio, who is madly in love with her, as she has reservations. Eventually, she gives in and marries him.

Same thing happens in this movie with Adrienne Shelly's character.

This movie reminded me a lot of "The Good Girl." Mundane life, mundane job, mundane marriage. Affair. Baby. In the South.

I have not seen 'The Good Girl', but yes, Shelly's film did remind me of 'Mystic Pizza' in some ways.

I hadn't thought of it that way, but now that you mentioned it, yes I do see the similarities between "Waitress" and "Mystic Pizza."

Let us hope we are all preceeded in life by a love story...

Yes, they were both lame.

"check the imdb cast list before asking who portrayed who in movies please"

And was the main character in Mystic Pizza married to an abusive husband, and pregnant with a baby she didn't want until she actually saw her?

No.

You realize there are only so many plots out there, right? There are bound to be similarities from time to time.

Have you noticed the similarities between "Romeo and Juliet" and "West Side Story"????
