neatest 17 year olds I have ever seen

It reminded me of the 1950s when teenagers dressed for dinner dates and said please use a coster.

I agree with you, never saw people dress like that , even 25years old when they're eating together on vacation.

reply

I agree! When Megan asked Nick to dinner she didn't mention there was a dress code, however he arrived in a suit and tie on his bicycle. LOL!

Haha. True.
But in the original(and better movie. It´s not very good but it´s pretty solid, the ending´s a bit of a disappointment though)
Christian(the lead. Was turn into Megan in the remake) invites Linn(turned into a guy named Nick in the remake) to dinner and told her about the dress code. So I guess it´s taken from there and they forgot to mention the dress code.
This movie was very shi!!y though, not even the lovely but wasted Amanda Seyfried made it watchable.

Last seen movie(Cinema):
The Strangers 2.5/5
Dark Knight 4.5/5
Incredible Hulk 3/5

I was also surprised to see the guys in suits and ties and the girls in formal wear because all through the rest of the movie they were in shorts and sandals. However, I kind of liked it and I wish more people would dress up (or at least put on some real shoes!) for a social occasion.

reply

Maybe they were brought up that way.

Why can't movies with teenaged characters have actors at least in the same age range? It doesn't make much sense to have someone who is 20+ play a teenager. A babyface might pull it off, but it would be more realistic if the actors were at least around the same age.

reply

Regarding the age, it's always better to cast somewhere near the age, but if you hire someone younger than 18, there are far more rules and laws (i.e. when they shot Thirteen, the underage girls were allowed to touch Kip Pardue's chest in a kissing scene, but not his *nipples* specifically, etc.) so you at least have to cast over 18. Plus, you gotta cast for PERFORMANCE, not age. If a 18 year old sucks but the 24 year old actor rocks, you just cast around him so everyone matches and no one notices how much older he looks than an ACTUAL 18 year old.

Also, Elisabeth Harnois does state that her mother is a college professor, so there's a good chance they were probably brought up to be a bit more mannered and polite.

It is possible to cast for both performance and age, if you just try.

But of course!

they dressed up because it was the summer solstice, they went there to specifically celebrate it so i didnt see anything weird about dressing up.

based on the dialogue throughout the movie, you can tell its a big occasion in that part of town.

reply

Yeah, that was the one good thing about this movie. It wasn't the total cliche teen characters.

That sounds weird!

I wonder how they came up with that specific rule?
