Monk stole money from Don Huerto??? Did I miss something?

Now, granted, I only watched this film once on Netflix... and it was basically a way to kill a slow afternoon, and I've never read the book... But, it would appear that there are some missing pieces in this film.

I don't recall there being any mention of Bobby Z's partner, Monk, stealing money from Don Huerto... Paul Walker just randomly mentions it to Olivia Wilde's character toward the end of the film... "Monk stole money from Don Huerto and pinned it on me... I mean, Bobby," or something like that. It was just dropped in there.

Then during the big "stand off" Don Huerto explains that Bobby Z was responsible for his daughter killing herself, and he mentions this missing money... I vaguely remember Wilde's character mentioning something about her share of money as well when she's is bed with Walker.. Does that have anything to do with the money Monk "stole"??

Perhaps, I missed more of the movie than I thought... lol
