Bruce Dern opening scene?

I found this movie for a buck at a flea market the other day, and while it's not a great film, I'm a sucker for the late Paul Walker.

Anyway, I remember watching this movie on Netflix last year, and there was an opening scene with Bruce Dern as a beach bum, hippie. He says that Bobby Z is coming back.

So, I put the DVD in and immediately noticed that the Bruce Dern scene has been cut entirely from the beginning of the film.

Upon "investigating" I realized that the runtime on the back of my DVD differs from pretty much every website's listing for the film. The DVD says 94 minutes, while most websites have it listed at 97 minutes.

However, searching through e-bay, viewing actual pictures of the DVD itself online... they also all say 94 minutes. So, can anyone explain this?

I am watching it on Xfinity on demand and the scene is there.

I originally saw this movie several years ago when it was just called "Bobby Z", and it did NOT have the Bruce Dern scene.
I recently watched it now that it's called "Death and Life of Bobby Z" etc. and noticed the new-to-me Dern scenes ... I assumed they added the bookends as part of the repackaging ... maybe after Walker's death?
