So much BS in this documentary

1. Low Wages - I got laid off in 2002 and had to temporarily work at Walmart. I saw that anyone who actually worked hard they reward, they saw how hard I worked and after a couple of months pulled me into the office and asked me if there was anything they could do to make more more happy and that if I stuck with them I would be getter promotions and stuff. But since I had a degree and was only working there so I wouldn't exhaust all my savings I wasn't interested.

2. H&H Hardware - I didn't feel sorry for these mom and pop shops, most them don't put money back into their stores, they look run down, they sell outdated merchandise and high prices. How does Walmart drive out a hardware store? They don't sell Lumber, they don't install things, these people just suck at running a business.

3. Single Moms - These women crying they can't afford health care for their children, news flash if you don't go to college and you have a bad job maybe should keep your legs close or maybe learn how to use contraceptions. Not to mention there are plenty of free health clinics and government assisting programs for single mothers with children. When I was married going through college we used such assistance when we had our first born. I love how these mothers have iphones, tattoos, smoke cigarettes then complain they can't afford health care for their children.

Learn some personal responsibility people!

I am no fan of monopolies, but this documentary is a sad Joke.

Don't agree with everything that you're saying but I had trouble with the documentary also in that the things they are accusing Walmart of doing are the same damn things that a huge variety of businesses including Kmart, Burger King, McDonalds, every fast food restaurant, every diner, every major grocery fanchise and many department stores who hire people at minimum wage do and have been doing for decades. I have yet to see any of those businesses hire people and give them more than 39 hours a week so as to not have to provide health insurance or, of all things, provide minimum wage employees vacation or sick time (paid or unpaid)! I'm not against these businesses being forced to do so through the creation of unions or whatever but why is Walmart the only one under attack?

As far as the Mom & Pop stores, the problem with them is not Walmart. It is what it has always been since before the creation of Walmart (which I had never heard of growing up in the Midwest until the 90's) and that is that when you go into them, they charge two and/or three times as much for an item as you would pay at Walmart or any major grocery chain. They put themselves out of business. The only ones that I see survive are the ones that are located in rural or suburban areas a significant distance from major groceries and people are forced to pay the high price if they can't or don't want to make a trip to a cheaper place.

Do ya love him Loretta?
Ah Ma I love im awful.
Oh God, you poor thing.

Walmart has only been around since the 1960's. What then? It's about margin, buying power, etc!

People have stopped caring so much about their local economy, even if they don't realise it. THAT is the way it works. The crowds are who put them out of business! But maybe it was inevitable the weakness of small shops was exploited.

There's a slogan written here. 'If you're happy, try everything'...

1. Your experience doesn't tell the tale for the thousands of other workers.

2. Prices are higher at these stores because they don't exploit workers to the same degree as Walmart. And who cares if the stores aren't as spiffy as the major outlets...

3. Although you are too harsh, I don't completely disagree. People need to be more careful when they have children. If you aren't on a reasonable wage, then maybe wait to have children. Although, things happen. Husbands lose jobs. Marriages break up. You are being too judgmental without knowing all the facts.

I've never seen a local store charge 2 to 3 times as much. They obviously have to charge more because they don't have the buying and negotiating power Wal mart have, and their margins have to be a bit higher because they pay their employees more. Also, a lot of single mothers were in relationships that fell apart, and never went to college because their husband supported the family.

What an idiot you are, your short shortsightedness and inability to see the truth almost makes me feel sorry for you. Its a shame you reproduced.

Well, that illustrates another aspect of Capitalism. It's the ideology of the vicious and self-righteous.

You might very well think that. I couldn't possibly comment.

"these people just suck at running a business."

For 43 years? How long do businesses last when they are run by people who don't suck at it?
