Any decent sword fights in this?

Just curious.

I don't know what you mean by "decent".

There are sword fights. Dastan uses two swords, some of the hassassins also use swords though most of them have other weapons. Often Dastan is dodging or parrying a sword, or some other weapon. For instance Dastan tries to evade his brother's axes or when he kills snakes thrown at him.

There are certainly no wuxia sword fights. This film uses for action scenes more parkour running than fencing.

All of the physical action is really lackluster in this, which really lowers the movie as that should've been one of the backbones of this piece. The modern PoP games do such a good job and this really doesn't at all, even in the aforementioned free-running sequences, etc.

Again, I would answer it depends on what you expect.

I like Asian martial arts films with a story, war films, historical films, and fantasy films. For me there was quite enough action, fighting and parkour running.

But I'm no player of the game which I know only from youtube videos. Infering from those youtube videos I conclude that the play had far more fantastical scenes than the film. The film, though a fantasy film, feels far more realistic than the play, as it should be as the movie is filmed with real actors in real settings. Nevertheless the film is fantastic enough. Gyllenhaal somewhere said that film-Dastan is composed from the efforts of eight different humans.

To achieve what you want I think the film should have been an anime.

The sword-fights (or duals if you want) aren't elaborate as the characters Dastan faces aren't skilled enough to pull a long fight (they get beaten quickly). But there are frequent action scenes with swordplay. There are like three scenes with sustained sword fights (his brother, Hassasin and I forgot who the other person was).

Life is like a beautiful melody, only the lyrics are messed up.
