I bought the original ('73) in Chinatown for 2 bucks and thought it wasn't even worth the $2. I kept thinking something was missing...like maybe a giant radiation-spewing beast! I found it dull but hope that the updated version will have effects that will make it worth a peep. Is it?

And its MUCH better than the crappy remake.
To tell you the truth, I dislike people who judge solely on effects. The original is superior in terms of acting, plot,music,and direction. The effects in the original 1973 film were awesome for the time and place...DON'T COMPARE MODERN EFFECTS to PAST EFFECTS! IT'S POINTLESS!
