Really wish someone (are you listening Toho?) would release this in a subtitled R1 DVD. Loved the original '73 version, hated the US recut '75 version, and would love to see the remake.
"As god as my witness... I thought turkeys could fly."
You can acually get this movie region free on ebay. I also recently got the 1973 Japanese subtitled version. Unfortunately it is listed on most websites as being 140 minutes long but the version on my DVD runs to about 1 hr 45 mins.. You should also think about getting a region free DVD player, they are awesome.
Most DVD players made in the last 3 years can be programmed to be region free. Do a Google search for "DVD region free code" and it will lead you to web sites that will give information on various palyers and how to program then to be code free. I bought a new Toshiba less than a year ago for about $70.00. I went to a web site and listed the model number. It gave simple step instructions on using the remote to decode the Region 1 aspect to Region 0. It works great and I can play any video made anywhere in the world, as well as VCD's. Yippee!
* www.yesasia.com - California-based importer; my primary source of Eastern entertainment! * www.music-plaza.com - mostly Korean DVDs, sometimes they carry a few items from other parts of Asia * www.hkflix.com - Based in Hawaii * www.thaicdexpress.com - Thailand version DVDs * www.imarnet.com - Mostly music (including Music Video DVDs). I've shopped there a few times, but lately their website has been down a LOT.

I just read on Bloody Disgusting that the now defunct Tartan USA's library was picked up by another company. Does this mean that maybe now we'll get the legitimate Region 1 release (which previously never materialized) that this movie needs? I hope so.
You can buy this on Yesasia.com for under $20. I bought mine in San Fran's Chinatown for $17.99 and I think it's a great film! Great effects and high production values. Hope one day it finds it's way on Tartan.
