Sean's character

I thought Lee Ingleby played this character superbly. He made us want to dislike the loathsome despicable character more and more each time we saw him.
You could also see that all the other people on the street disliked him as well and this made him all the more believable.

It doesnt make it right what happened to Sean in the last episode of Series 1, but I bet most people cheered when it did happen. Especially for Yvonne and her eldest daughters sake after the way hed been treating them.

Ive since seen him in the detective drama George Gently, and hes a completely different likeable character this time.

I seem to remember seeing him in one of the Ashes to ahses episodes as well, I cant remember which one exactly.

Its always the mark of a good actor/actress when they can make different characters believable, instead of being typecast and playing the same thing all the time.

I just watched it tonight on CBC (Canadian) channel that airs BBC shows and thought I was watching a movie, not a series. At first, I watched Timothy Spall's character take in a Nigerian man and Lee's character, Sean was jealous of him hanging out with his wife. I was about to turn it when he started beating the crap out of him, but was curious to see what would happen. Was glad to see Tim's story had a peaceful ending with the Nigerian man.

I thought it would end completely after that, but than another story kept going with the London blond women, Yvonne. I was so disturbed watching Yvonne getting beat up. You would think she would leave! She finally did and I felt so bad for her mom, her kids, her friend, and her male friend. Thought Sean would actually change, but he didn't. He seemed like he could be a decent man at points, up until he went crazy not seeing his wife and kids, which is actually normal, but not normal if he's going "too" crazy.

I kept watching until the very end where Yvonne meets up with Sean the last time with a club to kill him and buries him underneath her mom's grave. I wouldn't have done that though. Her mom needed a peaceful rest. I was even more disturbed by that, now I'm trying to forget about it. I was surprised that they all weren't actually doing anything to keep him away.

They just changed the locks and than finally took the kids away from Sean, which I thought was a bad idea. Never take the kids away until you have a backup plan with police that can work with you and have a safe place to go, other than a friends, or family house that can harm them as well. The best thing to do was to move out of the area and have him locked up to get help. The man just needed help with his anger and drinking issues. I think this show left me mad more than disturbed. lol

I'm thankful I don't know a man like that and if I did, I would leave him, especially when kids are involved. It is not right to put up with that. Women need to learn to be strong in those situations and to get help right away!
