I wasn't really paying attention in the final 2 episodes, so I may have missed it. But was there a reason the teams where handing around the chamber for so long? Where there clues in there about what the code the cryptex is? Or was it just a waiting room to the treasure?

They needed a 5-letter code to open the cryptex. Supposedly the answer was right in front of them. But, it took the teams a combined total of 11 hours of sitting around, trying random combinations until one of them accidentally stumbled upon it.
Generally, I was annoyed that this task, like almost all others, wasn't about solving clues, as much as it was about stumbling around, trying random stuff, until you found the answer.
