Yet another disappointing Aussie 'comedy'

As a very proud Australian I'm constantly disappointed at the appalling "comedies" our film industry seems to constantly churn out. Boytown had the potential to be hysterical - great concept, very funny guys in the lead roles - and as usual they completely stuff it up with uninspired, boring, lifeless dialogue and dopey cliches like burning the envelope. Mick Molloy can do better than this in his sleep.

considering Mick wrote it I too am dissapointed.

Crackerjack was an excellent film, and his radio show caused me to laugh on a daily basis

I tried to give this movie a chance, but by the end I just wanted a refund.

I have to agree. My girlfriend and I watched it last night with great anticipation, considering the lead players. It just really failed to get going. A few minor laughs throughout, but on the whole, quite disappointing- and that ENDING! Three words... lame, lame, lame.

I found it pretty funny. I don't laugh out loud at films very often, but I laughed a few times during BoyTown so they must have done something right!

I still have't seen Crackerjack, Bad Eggs, or The Castle - past a few minutes, mostly of excruciation - as this was the only Oz Com that had a grab for me to see it.
And boy (pun intended, after I noticed it) it was a classic! A crack-up, Especially the so-many songs! - enough for an album. It was similar to This Is Spinal Tap. I doubt I will think any other comozedy is better! Not since Coc Dun.
It didn't go the route every comedy does, and every other film does, of something going wrong exactly half way, and so just made jokes, and songs! It had to come, but not til 3/4.

I didn't have high hopes... but even with that I was disappointed. What a great idea and it was just flattened.

Don't know what you mean by "yet another." There's been quite a few good Aussie comedies in the past decadeish.

The Castle, The Dish, Kenny... all excellent.
