Things of note (spoilers)

Just recently rented this movie after having seen most of it on TV. This movie is just phenomenal. With that said, however, I have a few points I would like to share.

1) Are there really blantantly obnoxious teachers similar to whats his face in Australia? Or, perhaps a better question, was this a city school? I have been to a city school and such teachers exist, but than again they have to deal with students of similar type. Even if Steven hasn't shared his problem with the faculty, the teachers first reaction should not have been to verbally bash him. Sometimes it can be a symptom of emotional/psychological abuse. So instead of verbally bashing it should have set off red flags.

2) As an individual, who upon initial viewing missed the fact that somebody would commit suicide in the end, I would recommend that if you have a friend watch this movie skip the beginning. In my opinion, it made for a much stronger, more emotionally driven experience when I was confronted with the suicide.

3) How is there not a bonus feature talking to the actress who played Kelly? I know the whole point of the movie was to ignore her, but it should not carry over into the extras. While I am on the subject, how is this actress not being hired for more emotionally engaged roles? I realize you didn't see her for most of the film, but she left an impression in the end.

1) I think its better to look at schools individually rather than assume city school = bad teaches, country school = good teaches. 3 teaches were shown in the movie 2 of which where pretty rude and unhelpful, I find it very unlikely that a school has twice as many rude teaches as there are good teaches. Although i can only speak from limited experience going to a country school where the teaches were mostly very helpful and caring.

2) If the first suicide scene is shown the movie kind of becomes a mystery of who's going to kill them self. If its not shown I imagine it might make it more emotional or it may make it a little boring.

3) yeah kelly should have got an interview on the making of feature (but maybe she didnt want to?) But she didnt leave an impact me on me at all, the first time i watced it i didn't even know she killed herself. I thought it was melody

"If its not shown I imagine it might make it more emotional or it may make it a little boring."

It wasn't boring to me, but than again I am an observer of human nature. So I just sort of saw the movie as a "case study" of daily teenage life, however, somewhat unrealistic it may have been.

"But she didnt leave an impact me on me at all, the first time i watced it i didn't even know she killed herself. I thought it was melody"

Well, ok, I didn't know it was Kelly either the first time I saw it, but it didn't take away from the impact I felt watching the scene. Really I thought Kelly was Sarah throughout the movie (they look similar to me). It wasn't until my second viewing that I realized Kelly was a whole other person. Which, for me at least, just adds a whole other dimension to the reason she committed suicide.

Speaking of bad teaches, don't you mean bad "teachers"???

In my school, they taught me the difference between "teaches" and "teachers". Guess yours was different?

I just realised that one of the teachers (can't remember who or when exactly) says to Melody 'are you gonna be ok', or something like that. I think it's before she calls her mum..

Maybe Marcus' text was pretty graphic about his sister, and the school decided to talk to Mel about it? Cause she seemed upset all day, and I got the feeling the teachers knew something was wrong?

Any thoughts?

One of the best movies I've ever seen. It should be part of all high school education.

So long and thanks for all the fish

No thoughts at this point because I don't remember the scene. Haven't seen the movie in a long while.
