Adult Diapers
Do they not sell Depends or other brands of adult diapers in Australia?! Was the kid just too poor to afford them?

shareThis was explained; Steven says that he tried them at the advice of his parents but that they just didn't work. Don't forget that his problem was more than just a weak bladder.
shareNot to mention you can hear the diaper when your walking. I was born with Fecal Incontinence. and actually wore them until about Kindergarten. (too many kids made fun of me for it.) I could really empathize with his character.
~I love the rhythm it is my methoood!~
Why not a urinary catheter? I've seen a documentry of the lives of people using them, and given the options, they are very happy to use one.
shareSo you expect him to wear a catheter to school than? and that would stop him from being made fun of how exactly? I can picture him only wearing it at home.
it seems the majority of his issues were at school.
I work in the Home Health field. catheters are painful. I don't know anyone who is "happy" to use a catheter.

¿Why not use a waterproof jean?
A dark one.
Go and wear like a sponge-underwear, and as soon as you piss it, you go to the bathroom, replace it, and no one will notice.
I couldn't believe that a teacher could be so insensitive and couldn't understand that he had a medical condition. Treating and reprimanding him like a baby was humiliating.

Whew... been a few years since my post. I have been to a Colon specialist. Since I was born without a Sphincter as of now there is no Surgery for it. Catheters etc. are more discreet now but I've opted just to wear extra Underwear and have a change of Clothes.
Wearing Adult Diapers are still awkward. Still a bit bulky. I only wear them on rare long car trips. They are a mess to clean up tho. I was a bit too defensive on my previous posts. But having those alternatives are still a nuisance and not a complete solution. It's very draining having this Disability. You miss out on alot and it damages your self esteem.
It was very sad how he was treated by his Teacher and Classmates. I was that Kid all throughout School. It brought me back to it.
Steven's story is totally illogical, both regarding solving his medical problem and discrimination of his friends and even worse, teachers. I considered Australia far progressive and onward country, but I was obviously wrong... or something's wrong with the story itself! Accordingly, I've always considered my country and its surrounding (western Balkans) highly primitive, but such scenes of permanent terrorizing handicapped students are unthinkable. Those happen from time to time, of course, but very rarely and are being prosecuted in no time! I am also unpleasantly surprised by homophobic environment depicted in the movie. I can't believe the story is set in Australia and not in some third-world-country.
