Ending (Spoilers!)

What do you think about the ending. Info "compressed" that they are way back in the ice age somewhere close to hawaii. But when the camera shot out to the space Pirk's space station where they took off to the wormhole was on orbit around earth all busted up. So were they actually in the future?

But oh man, a great amateur movie!

reply

Indeed, they were in the distant(?) future. Pretty effective tug on the rug under the feet after implying a 'reset' end.

reply

I thought that there would be a bunch of apes riding horses when they crashed back to earth.

reply

So basically, Info was wrong, and there's no way he can change the timeline now?

reply

I think they may be in the past.
Even if there is junk orbiting the planet, in the thousands of years that will pass between then and now, the orbit will degrade and whatever is there will end up falling on the planet.

reply

If they were in the past, how do you explain the space station wreckage? It's the same space station Pirk constructed. So, Info was wrong and they are actually in far future.

reply

they are in the future, but in north russia. you can see form when the camera moves out. i think its just a simple explanation. info was wrong and they think they can get out of their predicament but they're done for.

reply

Woah, this is confusing.

First, according to the english subtitles, Info said that they were 11.000 years in the future.

Then, he said they were in Hawaii during the Ice Age. He also declared that he can survived until 21st century.

Then finally, we see the space station wreckage...

Are the subtitles flawed or they really messed up the ending?

reply

The subtitles are not flawed and the ending is not messed up. You just need to read very carefully what is being said and understand that Info could be wrong with his estimation this time.

The ending has been discussed in the official forum many times already. See for example: http://forum.starwreck.com/viewtopic.php?t=1806&highlight=ending

reply

Okay thanks. Now it makes sense.

reply

info lied...he did give the information wrong on purpouse.

reply

Pirk said 'Where're the hula dancers, etc', and then Info said '11,000 years in the future.' That is, the hula dancers are 11,000 years in the future, meaning that Info, Dwarf and Pirk are 11,000 years in the past. But Info is wrong (perhaps) because the wreckage of the space station orbits the planet.

reply

Yes, they were in the past, and Info says that he could survive to the early 21st century to prevent all this from happnening.

The ending also leads to a full circle because it in a way explains too why Pirk, Dwarf and Info happened to be on the Earth in the start of the film. It does not however tell how Pirk and Dwarf survived the Ice Age and remained alive.

The Apple Scruffs Corps, 05
This is a song from the show the 'muscleman'.

reply

No, they were in the future, and Info lied on purpose.

reply

They were on earth at the start of the film because they had traveled back in time, as you'd know if you watched the previous Star Wreck movie/s.
