How Come No Nod?

did this not deserve a nod for any of the major award shows?
was it because it wasn't American?
was it because hotel Rwanda won awards in 2004? we can't have more than 1 movie on the same subject?
do the award committee's feel as if though this wasn't a great film? or that certain aspects of it wasn't more deserving than others to at least get a nod? I beg a differ

This movie had great impact and was made to show you how powerless someone can be to something happening right infront of there eyes.

I loved this movie, I wish more were made the way this was.

The film's been nominated for several Genie awards, the Canadian film awards (our Oscars, basically). Glad to see that at least. I just saw the film and am amazed it didn't play in more theatres in Canada- it seems absolutely criminal that it hasn't been widely seen. Strange because so many Canadians are aware of Dallaire as a national hero- the documentary (same title) was very popular here, his memoirs are a bestseller- maybe people think they've seen the story already?

At least I'll recommend it to everyone I know. Maybe over time it'll get the attention it deserves.

nobody goes to see Canadian movies, not even Canadians.

Major award shows don't want quality movies. They want movies made by major production houses for the most part.

How many people honestly thing Gladiator was oscar worthy? Or most of teh new SW trilogy? Or that horrible racism and morality tale they called 'Crash'? Certainly not me.

General Dallaire (Ret) was in town this past week for some sort of conference, and I thought I recognized him. It wasn't until I was resorting my bookshelf yesterday that I realized who it was, and I kicked myself for not catching it earlier. So I watched this film today for the first time, and if nothing else, it's given me breath to try to tackle the book it's based on again. Mostly because I didn't finish it the first time.
