Roy Dupuis

I'm excited to hear that Roy Dupuis will be playing Roméo Dallaire. He's a great actor

reply

Me too! I've seen so many movies with him in it, but my favorite would have to be Maurice Richard. That movie was great. I hope they show this movie in theatres.

reply

yah, he does look a lot like Dallaire in the film, which really helps. ... funny how he also looked a lot like Maurice Richard... well actually...the resemblance to Dallaire was much stronger.

reply

While not the best of seen, Dupuis came pretty damn close. It was a great performance.

Roy Dupuis is really great. I'm surprised he hasn't moved to the States and gotten into movies there. I'm sure the American studios would all want him in their movies and he'd probably become a huge star there.

Supposedly he looks uncannily like Romeo Dallaire in the movie. I'm quite excited to see it. I read the book and thought it was really good.

reply

You know, Roy reminds me of Brad Pitt and if he moved to the States, let's just say that Brad's got nothing on Roy! I saw the trailer on youtube and it's abit short but you must see it! I already have a good feeling that this film will be nothing short of extrodinary!!

reply

I just recently saw the trailer and I have to say that Roy Dupuis does look an awful lot like Gen. Dallaire. This movies comes out on my birthday by the way!

reply

Roy looks like Dallaire so MUCH!!! I saw the official trailer and the film looks wonderful :) The book is nothing short but extratodinary, which you should read. Wish I went to the Toronto film festival to see, but I might see it next year. Have you seen the documentary? Here's a website where you can out more info on the film, including the trailer: http://www.sevillepictures.com/ Happy early birthday, by the way ;)

reply

he doesn't really look like Dallaire. It's just the mustache. However, he doesn't look like Roy Dupuis either, that's why its easy to think of him as Dallaire in the movie. But of course, that is what acting is all about.

reply

I found him resembling Dallaire more and more as the movie went on. It's the acting that does that.

reply

That's exactly why Canadian's movie industry has no "Star System": the only way to go, for english Canadians, is "the American way" and they don't have any clue whatsoever why the cultural landscape of Quebec is so strong.

Roy Dupuis, like many others in Quebec, don't confused "big" with "good"...

reply

being "big" in Quebec does not mean being "big" in Hollywood. I would be surprised if any Americans know who Rémy Girard is.

reply

Nonsense, Sweiland. I'm American and have seen several of Mr. Girard's movies. America, like Canada is a diverse country. We're not all gun-toting right-wing action movie buffs you know....

Incidentally, I read General Dallaire's book as well as seeing this film. See? Some Americans actually read as well!

Well, the latest film with Roy Dupuis has a set of international actors: the excellent Remo Girone from Italy and Frederic Chau from France. Who cares about Hollywood anyways, they have found a formula and they keep on repeating it. Here in Québec things are a little diferent :)

The movie is due to come out in 2013 and there's a Facebook page:

Lots of exclusive content and great pictures of Roy for the fans to enjoy!

I hear that a website is coming soon too.

Enjoy!
