Yes, Hotel Rwanda has a character based on Dallaire but with another name.

It's too bad they didn't feature Diagne in this film because Dallaire was very affected by the loss of this man. Someone else talking about him was upset that for all this man did, they didn't even have a proper body bag to put him in. They had to wrap his body in a tarp and it was an insult to his memory.

You're thinking of a U.N. aid worker, "Gromo" Alex, featured in the Frontline documentary, Ghosts of Rwanda

A transcript of the interview is here:

And he tells the story of Mbaye Diagne about halfway down the page.

BBC journalist Mark Doyle, who covered the Rwandan genocide (the only Western journalist there the whole time) has published Diagne's story for the BBC:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/special/2014/newsspec_6954/index.html

Good article, with a lot of detailed information.

BBC is also offering a radio program (about 25 minutes) about Diagne which you can download or listen to online here:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p01wgcfl

Program will be available for 1 year.
