Watch it, easier then me blabbing on and on. Powerful!

reply

Your probably right, but thats because most of our other films suck.

Literally thousands of Canadian films have been made. Have you seen them all? Or are you simply repeating someone else's uneducated opinion as your own? I suspect the latter.

reply

what do you consider "Canadian" films?

Those written... directed...Canadian cast... shot in Canada? or just those which are all of them, even then there are "hollywood" films that fit that criteria...

"The Shipping News" Is considered one of the best NFLD films, and it was written, directed and cast with Americans... yet it is a Canadian story

I'm guessing what he means is movies about great Canadians/Canadian moments (Passchendaele). I don't know if he considers writing or acting or directing or what ever needed to be Canadian, but this man was one of Canada's greatest heroes imo

reply

Honestly, this is one of the most powerful films period. I realize Schindler's List is a more widely known story and movie, but I'd say this one is a better depiction of one man standing up to a massacre.

This or Strange Brew.

Sorry guys. Cube is the best Canadian film I can think of.

How about CRAZY, Leolo, Invasions Barbares, Jesus de Montreal, Seraphin: L'Homme et Son Peche, etc.?

Those are all great films, but maybe only Invasions Barbares could beat Shake Hands w/ Devil. Roy Dupuis role of a lifetime.

What have you got against Canada? The definition of what is a Canadian film is very simple. I should not have to point out the obvious to you. What makes a (insert nationality here) film (insert same nationality here)?

Anne of Green Gables is my favorite movie and it's a widely beloved Canadian movie.

Sarah Polley directed 'Away From Her' which was good.

reply

Prisoners (or maybe Incendies) is the best Canadian movie ever.
