ghosts?

Okay, what was the deal with the ghosts? Shortly before Catherine says she sees something walking down the road toward her (actually three somethings, it appeared to be) I know I saw some other something in the distance...and then ghost shapes close to the dashcams POV.

When she sees the "something", she says it's her? Did I understand that correctly?

What's going on with that part of the "plot"?

reply

Yeah, you understood her correctly and I didn't get that part either.
Premonition perhaps??

All I know is that the credits began with about 15 minutes left on the film counter (I actually have it paused at the beginning of the credits as I write this) and I was hoping there would be more story or something, but I now realize that this film just has really, really long credits.

All in all, not a bad film, but definitely not as great as some are claiming. Perfect for exactly what it was - A film I watched at 3:00AM because I couldn't sleep.

Could it actually be a real ghost? Maybe the actress actually saw something?

I have to return some video tapes.

reply

There actually were a number of times that I thought I saw something moving very far off in the distance in several scenes. It might have been my sanity leaving me for watching this truly awful movie though...

reply

I dont know why they were there, but there were actually ghost like images of the girl off in the distance coming closer. but here is the thing, I noticed them earlier, while she was driving. so they were images of her in the camera
before.
I do have a theory though. some how they had some kind of equipment malfunction, while it was recording, and it was unintentional. so they have all this footage, but they would have to reshoot the whole movie. so what do they do? they make it part of the "plot". it would actually be genius, if you think about it.

I have to say, as a found footage type movie, I would have thought that having only one camera the whole time, it wouldn't work, but I thought it was quite effective. kinda of like a scary ride, or a video game.

There are at least 3 scenes where we see the "ghost(s)". The first time she doesn't notice, and it's very hard to spot. The second time she notices it just before it disappears and says "What the *beep* The third time she realizes that it's a ghost of her and she begins screaming that she's going to die. The may be a fourth time I don't remember or didn't notice.

reply

The last time, when she is screaming off camera, it wasn't because of the "ghosts", she was getting attacked by some of the ghouls/infected people that had finally come up on the cop car while she was stopped. If I were her,I would just keep driving till morning, real slow, the alien infected people don't walk too fast or seem to be all that threatening unless they get you pinned down. Not like regular zombies. Instead of eating her, they just want to pass along that worm thing, lol, that sounds bad.

reply

No, there was one more time before that. She said, "It's me, It's me coming up the road. I'm going to die! Do you understand, I'm going to die!"
Later she gets out of the car and runs away fro the infected and then runs back towards the car where she's nearly infected but then they all get abducted, or whatever the hell happened.

reply

yes, yes, she acknowledges the fact that there is a "double" of herself, or some kind of mirage. But doesn't get attacked by herself is all I am saying.

reply

Doppelganger, future echo.

reply

As far as the plot is involved, there is am explanation of the 'future echo' effect.
In the end, there was a bright light, which was actually a detonation of some kind
of nuclear/atomic device. It is theorised that a big enough blast can actually cause
time to be affected. Perhaps the filmmakers were actually trying to add it too the plot of the film, but I highly doubt that was what they were thinking. More likely they were trying to pad out the running time. I think that movie has the longest credits EVER, I think they were like 20 min or so.
