The main reason why the original was better is..

..the usual cop out ending in the remake - great big YAWN!

I’m in agreement too. Further, in the original move, Jan-Michael Vincent killed Charles Bronson just for business (if I recall correctly – it’s been a long while since I saw the original). So, seeing Bronson get his revenge from the grave was great. But here, McKenna has a perfectly valid reason for killing Bishop – the guy had murdered his father. So seeing McKenna get blown up at the end – no satisfaction whatsoever. He did not “have it coming.”

If they had to go with the Hollywood ending, then have McKenna take the Porsche and drive off. From a distance, we then see Bishop watching with binoculars. “Enjoy it, Kid,” he says, “it’s the least I could do.” Then, they flashback to how Bishop escaped the explosion and have him drive off into the sunset. Either let them both live or have them both die. This ending was crap.

Brimfin, your ending would've been better. I don't have a problem if they want the protagonist to be a ruthless killer who only cares about his own ass but Bishop's action don't fit that mold.

The film makes a point of showing the audience that Bishop only kills bad people: a drug king pin, an arms dealer to gangs & terrorists, and a cult leader who may have killed a young woman. Bishop even pulls out a fake torture trick to get information. Going by this info, Bishop wouldn't have killed McKenna (Sutherland) if he didn't believe McKenna sold out and got that team killed.

Bishop takes Steve under his wing because he feels he owes it to Steve's father even though Bishop thinks McKenna was a traitor. So why would Bishop kill Steve and leave that note in the car? It wasn't even something like "I'm sorry about your father" or "I'm sorry it's come to this but you've left me no choice". The note was more like "Ha ha got ya!" so Steve knew Bishop was the man.

DISPLAY thy breasts, my Julia!

i like the.ending. why does it need to be fair? also steve took to assassination for a living and screwed up badly twice. he was nit an angel.

but i can see how you prefer the ending of the original. i might have to sre that soon.

There is a style and class in the ending of the original film.

Its that man again!!

I thought this was just so boring compared to the original.. maybe if they cast Liam Neeson instead of Statham it would have been more interesting

They could have done but he had just been in a remake of The A-Team.

Coincidentally, Stephen Chow was almost in the remake of The Green Hornet.

A complete bumbling of why the original stood out. A total misfire, it could have at least been decent if they stuck to the original.

it basically was the same ending. not sure what the "cop out" is you're talking about
