I could explain it by saying he was drunk, but they both were. I could explain it by saying that Bishop trained him well in those ~3 weeks, however they only showed the gun training, no hand-to-hand combat training.

And remember the big guy got stabbed 3 or 4 times in the gut. If you've never been mortally wounded, trust me, it'll take something out of you.
