Check on your pet peeve at http://www.screenit.com; mine is the eff-word.
I got mine for $3 bucks @ Big Lots... And no matter how bad this movie might be (as I haven't seen it yet), I know it'll be worth 3 bucks, even if it's just to MST3K it to death! >:o)
Once I see it, I'll impart my review...
OK... JUST SAW IT...
I am not a historian, nor am I a "Pirate Film Fanatic". That all said, I really enjoyed this movie! It is purely escapist faire, and what’s wrong with that? I’m not TOTALLY stupid… I realize if I made the study of pirate lore & legend my life, and then I watched this thing, I too would probably be pissed off, as Hollywood has taken serious “artistic license” with this film. The true story of Blackbeard has yet to be filmed, I guess. But this film, just as an evening of couch potato entertainment, this film works ok with me.
Trust me,

it's been over a year since this post, however I bought mine at WalMart as well for $5... however mine also included "Teh Curse of King Tut's Tomb", "Merlin's Apprentice" and "The Poseidon Adventure" so it cost me $1.25 for each movie (even though you can't buy them separately as they are a package deal)
shareDid you notice how the covers/fonts copied famous A list movies??
Merlin's Apprentice- Harry Potter title font
King Tut- The Mummy series
Blackbeard- Dead ringer for Pirates of the Carribean
I thought that was extremely weird.
That was the same exact thing I was thinking when I bought them, which is pretty much the only reason, after the fact that it was dirt cheap, that I bought them.
shareGot this at walmart as a double feature with Poseidon adventure for 94 cents. Yes, 94 cents.
