Rachel Ward/Richard Chamberlain reunion?

I'm a big fan of The Thorn Birds in which the two actors starred in together! I was excited to see both their names together in a movie again! Did they have any scenes together? How does Rachel Ward look, some of her more recent photos aren't very kind...

I had a small role in the film and spent some time with Mrs. Ward during my time on set. She was really cool and funny, and very approachable for someone who has to deal with fanboys all the time. Very beautiful too... I hope my wife looks that good when she's her age.
While waiting for our plane back to Bangkok, she met Richard Chamberlain as he landed; apparently it was the first time they'd seen each other since the Thornbirds, which I found a bit weird. At any rate, they hugged and talked for a bit just like old friends. I also met Mr. C very briefly, and he was totally nice too, although probably a bit out of it from jet lag.

Hey! Thanks for the reply! That's so cool that you had a small role. Who did you play? How exciting that you got to meet them both! It is odd that they haven't see eachother since the Thornbirds. I thought they may have stayed friends. At any rate it will be good to see them onscreen together again. They made television history together back in the early 80's!

I just saw Blackbeard for the first time today. Unfortunately Rachel and Richard didn't have any scenes together. In fact I hardly recognized either of them. I just thought it was so odd for Rachel to be portrayed as a pipe smoking barroom wench at a hangout for pirates and for Richard to be portrayed as a sniveling weasel of a politician. I still think of Rachel as being a lovely leading lady and Richard as a leading man type. But I did like and enjoy the movie.

Times change and people age. Rachel was 48 during shooting and perfect for the smoking pub matron. At 71 during filming, Chamberlain was well past his prime and effective as the corrupt foppish governor. His days as a leading virile man were well over. It's just the way it is in life and the acting profession.
