Okay, you asked how Batman couldn't beat Dracula when he defeated many other (stronger) opponents? You answered it yourself: this is not the Batman you know, this is the YOUNG Batman.
Bear in mind that 'The Batman' is set in Bruce's 3rd year of crimefighting and he hasn't yet met Superman or been a part of the JL.
I'm not biased, I've seen both TAS and the new series and I've read a damn good amount of Batman comics; (Trust me, I'm an addict) but I do feel that 'The Batman' is more appealing to me because the villains can actually put up a fight. In the majority of TAS episodes, Batman spent most of his time figuring out how to stop the bad-guy's crime sprees, but when he found them, it was all over and they went back to prison/Arkham.
Doesn't the fact that each episode has at least one action scene bring a little colour to the Batman story?
Personally, I love a good fight scene as much as I love the riddles, puzzles and clues the villains leave behind, but I feel that a fight scene would just complete all of that. ^_^
Yes, I love Batman stories as much as the next... erm... (Let's not say girl because not many girls do, heh) You get the point anyway, but I think each version of Batman has its own qualities. Sure, those who grew up with TAS will miss the Mafia episodes and whatnot, but obviously kids today won't like that sorta stuff. They like colourful villains, and it helps that Joker has had a makeover. To me, he looks more warped and insane than the Mark Hamil version in a Zoot suit. Not that the old Joker sucked, oh no! He rocked, but I feel that KMR's version is more suited to this version of Batman's story.
Give the series time to neaten all the edges. It is relatively new, after all. I hear that they're going to bring Harley back! Of course I'm feeling a tad weary about this since she was simply awesome in TAS: I don't know how they can follow that up. But doesn't this prove that they're going to try and re-introduce the old characters? You're bound to like at least one reinarnation!
But I don't completely worship this series: I think Mr Freeze is absolutely pathetic in this new version, Capizzi completely lost the entire point of Freeze's existance (His wife is non-existant, dammit) and that makes me mad! >_< But I will overlook that one blunder for the sake of the interesting plotlines.
I've tried very hard to be unbiased in this reply, so do not blast unkind words at me if you disagree.
I do think TAS is the true Batman cartoon, but it's inevitable that things do change.
Try to get used to it.
Now... back onto topic. *Spoilers?*
The film blew me away. I first watched it on the internet, being a British fan of the series who is unable to gain access to a copy. Once I'd watched it once, I wouldn't be content until I got it on DVD. Naturally I did, thanks to a great friend who bought it online.
The animation is superb and the voice acting is quite impressive. I know a lot of people hate KMR's interpretation of Joker, but it's different. Far more interesting than the old Joker, who was more paedophillic than insane in a few circumstances.
The plotline was a bit clichéd, I do admit, what with Dracula and the blood and the transformations and such. However, I absolutely loved how Joker made his re-entry into the land of the living - twice - and that Batman had to save his arch-villain in order to save Gotham from an eternity of damnation.
Wonderful.
But I do give this film a 9/10 partly because my fave character (Joker) was hardly in the film after the incident in the Batcave AND Penguin seemed to be more of the comic relief than the Jester himself. What is up with that?
Yeah, but I love this film. It's my favourite animated movie so far, but MotP is a very close second.
