I agree, misonyea ...it was all the mother's fault. I hate parent characters like that. And also, I hate Parent characters who want their kids to like them - snooty. And also they never believing their kids.

how exactly was it all the mom's fault? the father had the power to break the curse too, but he was so passive he didn't even try. i like both the mom and dad, but they were both kind of crappy parents.

I think he really loved Penelope for who she was but his wife made it too hard to accept her... especially because he blamed himself for the whole situation.

I concur. Dad had less problems than Mom did and - on his own - would probably have broken the curse. But Mom was so caught up in the curse, he was too busy fending off her attitudes.

i think the mom meant well aslo. She just knew in real life, people are mean. She didnt want her daughter to experience the ridicule. I was wonder why the dad didnt break the spell either
