Movies similar to Penelope?

I love this movie and I can't seem to find anything else like it. Can anyone recommend movies like Penelope? The closest I could think of was Ella Enchanted and it's a bit like Beastly.

Define "movies similar to penelope"... are we talking about fairy tales with a twist?

- Ella Enchanted
- Hook
- Bedtime Stories (I'm not a huge Adam Sandler fan but I loved this movie)
- Bewitched (2005)
- The Princess Bride (my family loves that movie, we watch it once a year on family vacation... even though we're all over the age of 20 haha)
- A Kid in King Arthur's Court (it's from the 90s and honestly a cheesy movie but I used to watch it a lot when I was younger so it has sentimental value)

I have seen all the movies, except A Kid in King Arthur's Court... I think I'm going to watch Hook again, watched it many times when I was a kid. I've seen The Princess Bride so many times... love it!

Amelie - Plot is not the same at all, but colourful and quirky with voiceovers and history in a way reminiscent of this.. probably an inspiration for the style.

Nice girls don't Explode. - Low budget and cheesy, but has a girl with an affliction and a controlling mother.

(edit)
Also several movies retelling the "ugly duckling" storyline. Maybe you could search for that starting here: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Literature/TheUglyDuckling
..but of course they are almost always a hollywood star in glasses. It is really the same here. Just a slightly more honest attempt and less shallow characters.

Oh.. and Shrek (first movie), of course.

In the 1984 TV movie Arthur The King / video Merlin And The Sword, there's an element with a girl with a nose and curse like that.

the Disney movie Tangled stole much of its story from Penelope. I'd recommend that.
