Yeah I Was Thinking The Same Thing My Mom Rented It For My Brother And He Was Playing It I Walked In I Was Like "HOLY SH**! IS THAT MICHAEL JACKSON!" lol sorry had to share it ^_^

wonka didnt like children. so there isnt really any similarities at all.
probably the only similarity between jackson and wonka is the pale face. thats all.

Actually they say johnny depp resembled Marilyn Manson. bc Marilyn Manson loved Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and he wanted so badly to beWilly Wonka for the new version but they gave the part to Johnny.

Ya know, it took me a while staring at Depp's performance as Willy Wonka before the same thing occured to me. I turned to my wife and asked if this Willy Wonka seemed more like a less-creepy and slightly more functional version of Michael Jackson. She started laughing, saying she was trying to figure out why the character seemed so familiar, and that was it. :)

The similarity was very striking, once you pick up on it. In an article I read before the movie came out, Depp said he was actually going to try to play Wonka more like Marilyn Manson, and he thought that Manson would have made a decent Wonka as well (since he didn't get the part). I think he got his musicians a little mixed up for the actual effect, but it came off quite well.

The only thing I'd change, would be to make Wonka a bit less "flighty", and a bit more dark. I think that'd be a much closer match to the original book's Wonka.

Yeah he seemed very Michael Jackson-ish. lol. But other than that, I enjoyed the movie.

Anyone who has read the book can tell Depp based his Wonka there. Wonka had not been out of the factory in years hence the light skin, Wonka in the book had a “high fluty voice”, no social graces, he was kind of insane, and he even danced when there was no music.
